10.100 GRAMS

I’d like to tell you about this spectacular nugget or gold and quartz specimen.  But, it would be appreciated if you will allow me to spend a few words regarding..... the concept of a specimen... as the question of this subject has been brought to me before, and I am sure others are wondering.   So, let us establish that any bit of gold can be a “specimen” – that is a sample which is representative of gold in general.  This sample can be a small amount of fine gold, a nugget, a sampling of gold in quartz, or a showing of gold in any host rock.  When you have visible gold in the vein (in rock), it is known as “high-grade.”  Many people are under the notion that only a gold and quartz piece is a “specimen.”  Actually, a piece of gold in quartz, or gold in host rock, is a specimen/sample of gold ore. (Gold ore is an innate material that naturally holds or contains gold.)  Much more could be said on this subject; however, this should be ample for our purpose at this time.

Now... with regards to this particular gold and quartz specimen... both the extravagantly lavish, untamed, and naturally bizarre design, combined with the genuine rarity of this sumptuous golden discovery, are facts that stand without question.

The beautiful light to dark gray, somewhat ebony toned, host quartz rock appears to be a result of iron mineral staining as indicated by the fact that there appears to be no presence of magnetic properties.  This would preclude the existence of manganese oxide, a common mineral, which can cause darkening of the quartz and is highly magnetic.  This piece shows no attraction to a magnet whatsoever.

Please take it seriously, when in this instance, I use the term – “rare.”  Because, to have a fabulous gold and quartz specimen of this caliber, and one which is so impressive, coming in at about a third of an ounce, puts ownership of this truly natural treasure into a reachable range for someone who really wants it.

The lush gold you see dominates this piece, and runs true throughout.  This is a lengthy and shockingly gorgeous solid mass.  It is most certainly a rare and very precious gold nugget and gold and quartz specimen.
