You might at first think it’s a traditional alluvial nugget

– tossed and pummeled among rocks and boulders

as it tumbled down a fast-moving water course....

Not at all! 

This is an eluvial mountainside piece of gold that has slowly been transported downhill, captive and rolled as decomposing rock which held this gold gave way to the effects of gravity and worked its way down the mountain.  As it all gravitated downhill, it slowly, ever so slowly, shifted and shuffled, smoothing and polishing this once coarse and jagged piece of vein gold into this smoothed, crescent shaped,

classically chunky gold nugget! 

At one and four hundredths of a gram,

 it is a very desirable show piece

and certainly one lovable chunk of gold.
