“Mr. Auspicious!”   

When I found this piece, that’s the notion

that overwhelmingly headlined my thoughts -  

so that’s what I named this nugget as soon as I held it in my fingers!

It had been a long very warm and tedious day

with no exciting moments! 

This guy was ready to quit – beaten and skunked!

 I was a long ways from the pick-up and thinking....

“just a few more swings of this detector –

then I’ll shut it down and accept defeat....”

When suddenly!  BAM! 

A loud signal from the detector that kept repeating

with each swing over the target! 

Oh Boy!  I hope this isn’t “fake news!”  -

please let it be the real thing! 

With a fair bit of hot desert digging, and feeling more confident of the target the deeper I dug, this was my reward!  Auspicious? Yes!  

 Full of promise, encouraging, bright and hopeful!

This thing was now, without question, for real!

 And I now had a fresh outlook on the rest of this day!

With the discovery and possession of “Mr. Auspicious!”

 a new feeling of inspiration came over me.   

After a bit of a wash in some of my precious drinking water,

I could begin to see that this piece showed lots of character –

and it does!!

One and a fifth grams of impressively shaped and beautifully rich golden color!

What a sweet, chunky nugget of gold!

 I am excited to share it with you and anyone you show it off to!

It most certainly is “Mr. Auspicious!”
