Globular could be used to describe a shape like this, but then again,

 I believe it should be referred to here as a wondrous chunk of gold! 

Yes, it’s a wonder something could form so intricately

 deep in the earth and survive perfectly through untold centuries of time. 

Had this nugget found its way to a water course and been tumbled over a great distance

by rapids and boulders, as often happens, it would have been pounded smooth

with no outstanding features – perhaps even hammered flat.

That didn’t happen and it is indeed “wondrous!” 

It is graced with dips, cleaves, canyons and ridges, with no predictable pattern.
