At first glance you might assume that this chunk of gold has traveled

a boulder and rock lined water course. 

That’s because it has an overall smooth appearance. 

However, that’s not the case. 

This piece comes from the same ground

where many of our very coarse and somewhat jagged nuggets originate –

not a water course at all. 

There’s no smooth rounded rock there either.

Now, upon closer scrutiny you’ll notice a couple of areas of this piece are more coarse and rough, and that’s because the pressure applied over time by surrounding rock has somewhat smoothed a lot of this piece, but hasn’t quite accessed those more recessed and coarse areas.  The long-time result of this subterranean shifting and pressure is this anomaly of a nugget –

 more altered than most others discovered in this area. 

Oh, there are others, but they are the exception. 

The product of all this gravitational erosion and slow-moving turmoil is this somewhat thinner than usual, yet quite substantial, smoother textured,

very pleasing gold nugget of subtle character.
