This interesting piece of gold availed itself of a very tight space in which to form and was flanked on both sides by some rough surfaced native country rock.  It had to be many thousands of years before this host rock finally broke down – decomposed and loosened its grip on whatever gold it was holding in bondage.  Rock does that as it finally yields to surface water mixed with other natural occurring minerals and other necessary chemical elements which work their way down into the earth where this process takes place.  With these vulnerable reactants, it was also a long, long time before Buck and Ollie as Gold Nugget Man unearthed this wafer like treasure – first exposing it to the new freedom of the surface world.

 It nearly weighs a gram and a quarter,

and a true phenomenon is this gold nugget!
