This is a highly unusual gold nugget in that it's so revealing as to just how it formed. Its obvious coarseness topped off by a finished smoothing touch is not completely uncommon, yet it remains unique in its own peculiar texture. Upon close examination, you can actually read the signs of how the vaporized gaseous gold solution hissed in to fill the void in the host rock deep in the ground. This resulted in a spraying effect which kept building up layers of gold that for the most part were able to maintain their grainy sprayed on texture as the nugget was being structured. That's very easy to see on the concave "back-side" of this piece, since this particular chunk of gold has been able to retain most of its conceptual features. It's most interesting. The nugget appears as though it could be somewhat porous but it's actually solid and weighs up quite nicely for its size. With a high degree of primitive character and desirability, this somewhat elongated nugget also sports a tiny arched passageway which adds to its character. You can enjoy the slightest hint of host native quartz which can only be seen on very close inspection.
