A Recent Discovery....   

Not real easy because it was hidden in a deeply recessed deposit of hot rocks and extremely mineralized ground.  This “hot” ground produced lots of false signals that made the metal detector act crazy with many mixed-up beeps and woop-woop sounds.  This type of ground had produced for us at one point in the past so we pressed on.

  As the day grew later and colder, we detected lots of hot rocks.  (Hot rocks are those that are mineralized with iron content.  Thankfully, there’s a button on our Gold Bug 2 that easily eliminates them as a valid target!)

Finally, there was a more credible signal

 that sounded promising.

 Another foot or so of tough, hand-held pick and shovel excavation produced this very nice,

 somewhat triangular shaped nugget.

 A pleasing gold nugget that makes a sweet, solid klunk when dropped on to a writing tablet from several inches above.

  This is a classic piece!
